About Us – Yurinkyojitsu no kai-
My name is Yoshitaka Shono, Representative Director of the Yurinkyojitsu no kai.
I worked for companies such as Secom, Kroll (a US risk consulting firm), and AIG Corporate Solutions before going independent. I’ve been supporting clients’ overseas business ventures since before the internet was widespread. Companies need to accurately gather the information they need to advance their overseas operations, make major management decisions, and provide important explanations to stakeholders.
I’ve built a network of local experts in 50 countries with expertise in areas such as politics, legal regulations, public safety, lifestyles, and culture, and I provide tailored information to clients. Since going independent, I’ve worked with US strategic PR firms, overseas risk specialists, and non-life insurance risk management companies on international PR projects, ODA projects, JICA projects, and corporate overseas expansion support. To date, I’ve provided a wide range of business support experience in 38 countries.
In supporting overseas businesses, we’ve noticed a growing emphasis on business management from a sustainability perspective (ESG/SDGs), and Japanese companies are being well-received in their respective countries. However, Japanese companies are not particularly adept at PR, and often only promote their contributions to the local economy or measures to reduce environmental impact after a problem has arisen. This is also true of the many consulting cases we receive in this area.
In the midst of this, we had the opportunity to rediscover how ESG management is inherently embedded in the management philosophy of Japan’s long-established companies. Considering how “Japaneseness” has been valued as Japanese companies expand overseas, we decided to establish our association, focusing on the origins of this recognition by studying long-established Japanese companies and carefully communicating their value to society, which we believe will serve as a valuable reference for future Japanese corporate management.
Traditional crafts and performing arts, in particular, are treasure troves of world-class products and globally recognized “things.” “Mono” are things that are rooted in both tangible and intangible things, from quality to spirit, and many long-established companies have ties to traditional crafts and performing arts. As such, the purpose of our association is to specialize in business development that promotes traditional crafts and traditional industries.
I will use the wide range of experience I have cultivated to do my best to bring joy to everyone, so I hope you will continue to support me.
